Planning Appeals
We have a substantial case load of planning appeals ranging across a wide variety of differing land uses and types and sizes of development. We also advise clients on the issues that are material to the case and the prospects of a successful outcome for the appeal. Such advice is based on a thorough and professional assessment of policy and the application of such policy to the circumstances of the project.
We advise clients on the appropriate procedure for an appeal and we are experienced in dealing with appeals through Written Representation, Hearing or Local Inquiry.
We appear as expert witnesses at Local Inquiries as well as taking responsibility for conducting appeals at Hearings. In certain circumstances, we will undertake advocacy. The Practice has long experience in directly instructing Counsel and we have close links with many leading members of the Planning Bar.
Whilst the majority of our appeal work is for private clients seeking to have a decision reviewed independently by the Planning Inspectorate, we also act, where professionally able, for Local Planning Authorities and other bodies in connection with appeal proceedings.
